These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of bendis.xyod.com (the “Site”) and the books, writing, and other material offered by Margot Ellison (“Margot,” “I,” “me,” or “my”).

By browsing the Site, sending a message, joining the email list, or buying a book, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

2. Who I am

I am Margot Ellison, a novelist. The Site is for my books, my journal, and letters from readers.

3. The books

The novels on this Site include The Violet Hour, The Folded Letter, Sunday Rooms, and A Name in Pencil, and any later books I add.

Descriptions are given in good faith. A cover or a photograph on a screen may differ slightly from the printed book.

Where a book is sold by Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, or another shop, that shop’s own terms apply to the order. I do not control their payment, delivery, or returns.

4. The shop on this Site

If you buy from the shop on this Site:

• The price is the price shown on the product page, in the currency shown there, at the time you order.
• Prices may change before a purchase is made.
• Payment is taken by the payment service shown at checkout. An order is confirmed when that payment is accepted.
• Delivery times, shipping, and any return rules are the ones stated on the product page or at checkout.
• If a book arrives damaged or is not the book you ordered, write to me at the email above and I will make it right, by replacement or refund, as the case allows.

5. The first chapter

If you leave your email for the opening of The Violet Hour, I will send that chapter to the address you give. It is for you to read. You may not copy it, sell it, or share the file.

You can leave the email list at any time by using the link in a letter from me.

6. Messages

If you write through the contact form, or by email, I will read what you send. A message does not create a contract, a commission, or any obligation beyond a reply if I am able to send one.

7. Intellectual property

The novels, journal, and other writing on the Site are mine. The photographs, design, and layout of the Site are mine or are used with permission.

You may read them on the Site and share a short quotation with credit. You may not copy a book, a chapter, or a journal piece, republish it, or use it to train a tool, without my written permission.

8. Acceptable use

You may not misuse the Site, try to break into it, or interfere with it. You may not send unlawful or harmful material, or use the Site to send spam.

I may block access if these Terms are broken.

9. Other sites

The Site links to shops, email tools, and social pages that I do not run. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave this Site. I am not responsible for those sites, or for interruptions outside my control.

10. Disclaimer

The Site and its contents are provided as they are. The novels are fiction. Nothing on the Site is legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I do not warrant that the Site will always be available or free of error.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site.

If I am liable for a claim about the Site, or about a book you bought from me here, that liability is limited to the amount you paid me for that book. If you paid nothing, it is limited to [[a small amount, for example $50]].
